More garages demolished to make way for additional parking

Empty garages on four more sites in Wellingborough are being demolished to prepare for much-needed car parking spaces for local residents.

This is part of a two-year project which will see 34 garage sites cleared to make way for parking – many of which are unsightly and could pose a health and safety risk. Earlier this year, we announced that plans for many of these sites were taking us a little longer to complete than we had anticipated, due to planning delays but we’re happy to say that work is now progressing on these sites.

Work to take down three garage sites on Fulmar Lane and one site on Minvera Way started to take place on Wednesday 14th August and should take around two weeks in total.

This demolition is a short-term solution to make them less of an eyesore, as well as making them safer. They will be fenced off until work starts to turn them into parking spaces.

The project will be in five phases with more garage sites to be demolished over the coming months, as well as the already demolished sites being turned into additional parking, subject to planning permission being approved.

Additional parking is something we know our customers are very much in favour of as we have been consulting local residents throughout the project so far. We would like to thank you all for your patience whilst we work on this project to help create better neighbourhoods

Updates will be provided once progress starts onsite.
